WIND RUSH: Who is financing Ireland’s offshore wind farms?
13 Backers raised €483 of €3625

Ireland's ambitious plans for offshore wind energy has grabbed headlines around the world.

With promises of cleaner energy and a multi-billion euro boost to the economy, there has been a rush of financiers to invest in multiple offshore wind farm developments.

But what do we really know about those bankrolling our transition to renewable energy?

Our team will expose just how transparent these financing arrangements are, and what implications they have for Ireland's energy independence.

WHAT YOUR FUNDING SUPPORTS

In a first-of-its-kind offshore wind strategy, the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment said it will maximise Ireland’s wind energy to boost the economy and hit clean energy targets.

Powering Prosperity – Ireland’s Offshore Wind Industrial Strategy also states that international and foreign investment is a “competitive necessity” in developing the offshore wind market.

Through in-depth research and interviews with industry experts, financial analysts, and government officials, we will expose the intricate web of financing structures supporting these projects.

We will find out just how significant a role multinational corporations, foreign governments, or private investors are playing in funding our renewable energy transition.
